Ecological Appraisal

An Ecological Appraisal provides a robust and comprehensive assessment of ecological issues within a site/area. This approach is generally recommended where a planning application is to be made.

Our standard Ecological Appraisal includes:

  • Site visit (extended Phase 1 survey level) to map habitats and to assess the potential for protected or notable species
  • Comprehensive biological data search
  • Consideration of contextual information e.g. Biodiversity Action Plans, Local Policies etc, as appropriate
  • The report includes a detailed evaluation methodology and discussion of all significant issues
  • Identification of potential impacts and suggestions for mitigation and enhancement, where required
  • An electronically produced Habitats Plan for the site
  • Key and Additional Recommendations for the purposes of BREEAM assessments, if appropriate
