Ecological Impact Assessment
Our ecologists regularly become involved in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for large developments and other land use change. We can prepare Nature Conservation and Biodiversity Chapters to form part of a larger Environment Statement (ES), or where appropriate, we also produce standalone Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA).
The impact assessment report/chapter is arrived at through initial site assessment (e.g. through our Ecological Appraisal approach) followed by a suite of detailed (Phase 2) surveys to fully explore protected species issues or potentially valuable habitats. Ideally the detailed survey work will be guided by initial scoping work and the results of the scoping responses received from the nature conservation consultees.
To produce the final impact assessment report/chapter our ecologists work closely with the rest of the consultant team to ensure that potential impacts are fully understood and effective mitigation solutions are provided. Our goal is to provide an accurate and well-considered assessment, which will ultimately lend weight to the overall ES.
