BREEAM

CSa can provide expert assistance with Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methods (BREEAM) schemes, which are used to assess the environmental performance of new and existing buildings.

Our senior ecologists are full members of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM) and thus are classed by BRE as Suitably Qualified Ecologists (SQE) to undertake the ecological component of these assessment.

We are happy to review and advise on the ecological credits that may be achievable at a site, before completing a full assessment.

Code for Sustainable Homes

CSa’s Ecologists and Landscape Architects have worked with the Code for Sustainable Homes since it was introduced in 2007 providing ecological input to Code assessments for dozens of developments, ranging from single dwellings to large-scale residential schemes.

Of nine key sustainability categories, ecology is the third highest scoring category. Achieving a good score in this area can be a significant component in attaining the required Code rating.

Other BREEAM assessments

We have experience of BREEAM Healthcare, BREEAM Offices and BREEAM Education. Having developed a strong working knowledge of the process, CSa assist clients by providing sensible advice to help their projects achieve as many credits as possible.

As part of this, we often prepare management plans to encourage biodiversity at the site post-development, just one way in which a higher credit score may be achieved within these schemes.
