Tree Surveys
Local Planning Authorities are required to consider the impact of development on trees, irrespective of whether or not the trees are protected. British Standard 5837:2005: Trees in Relation to Construction requires arboricultural advice to be sought at the feasibility stage and continued through the design and implementation stage.
At CSa we have considerable experience of working on developments where the inter-relationship between trees and structures is a consideration. We work closely with Local Authorities and provide pragmatic advice to developers which allows sites to be developed efficiently but without adverse effects on retained trees. We provide the following services:
We undertake trees surveys in accordance with BS 5837:2005, grading trees according to condition, amenity value and longevity. Root Protection Areas (RPAs) are calculated and plotted on CAD based plans. From this base information Tree Constraints Plans (TCP) are produced which enable the layout architect or urban designer to fully understand the implications of working with existing trees.
Arboricultural Implications Assessments
Assessing the effects of development on trees is an important part of the design process. An Arboricultural Implications Assessments (AIA) will highlight any areas of conflict and identify any special measures which need to be taken to mitigate impacts on trees.
Arboricultural Method Statements
AMS are documents which set out the measurements that will need to be taken on-site to protect trees during the construction process. They will also identify any special engineering solutions that will need to be undertaken to ensure that trees are properly protected.
Woodland Management Plans
Working closely with our in-house Landscape Architects and Ecologist we can prepare woodland management plans to manage potential conflicts and pressures and to maximise the amenity and conservation value of woodlands.
