Success with application for 700 new homes in Worthing

Success with application for 700 new homes in Worthing

Project: 700 new homes and community facilities

CSa Input: Masterplanning, Landscape Architects and Environmental Statement

Date: 2010 – present

Client: The West Durrington Consortium (Heron Land Developments Ltd, Persimmon Homes Ltd and Taylor Wimpey Ltd)

CSa has played a key role in the preparation and submission of a major planning application for 700 new homes at West Durrington in Worthing. The proposals on the western edge of Worthing form a key part of the town’s long-term housing growth. The potential of the site was first recognised back in the 1970’s and has since been allocated in the extant Local Plan and emerging Local Development Framework (LDF).

The proposals for the site include sites for a new school and community building, allotments, a sports pitch, children’s play areas and a network of connected open spaces. Worthing Borough Council are now considering the application and a decision is expected later this year.

Despite the sluggish economic recovery and continuing uncertainty as the government reforms the planning system, this is one of many recent successes with strategic sites masterplanned by CSa Environmental Planning.
