CSa Input: Detailed Ecological Surveys, Reptile Mitigation and Landscape Design

Date: 2004-2007

Client: George Wimpey UK Ltd

CSa were commissioned to carry out the landscape design and ecological survey work to support a planning application for 120 homes.

Reptile survey work revealed that the site supported a population of common lizards. CSa have been involved in tackling this protected species issue right from the start, and mitigation has involved the production of a suitable reptile mitigation strategy, agreed with Natural England. CSa identified and secured a suitable receptor site (pictured) to which the lizards were safely moved. A sympathetic management strategy was agreed with South Hams District Council to safeguard the future of the translocated animals.
