CSa Input: Ecological Assessment and Mitigation Work

Date: 2004 - 2008

Client: George Wimpey Bristol Ltd.

CSa became involved with this project from the outset completing an Ecological Appraisal to make an early assessment of potential ecological issues. A range of detailed ecological surveys were ultimately completed. The presence of a significant slow-worm population was uncovered and bats were found to be roosting in one of the buildings. CSa developed and agreed mitigation strategies for these species, which included the design of a purpose built bat building. Once the new bat roost building was in place, a DEFRA licence (as termed at the time) was obtained to permit demolition of the original roost. Slow-worms were also carefully translocated to nearby receptor areas.
