CSa were appointed by Swindon Borough Council to undertake a comprehensive study of the proposed new section of the Wilts and Berks canal, which forms an integral component of the masterplan for the new settlement of 4,500 new homes at Wichelstowe. CSa undertook a full review of the existing information and the existing design coding for the residential parcels, in order to provide a co-ordinated approach to the design of each section of the canal. A set of detailed design codes was prepared for each section and these codes will set the quality benchmarks for the detailed design of the canal, and once adopted by the Local Authority will inform any future reserved matter planning applications which affect the strategic route of the canal.
