CSa Input: Survey and produce citations for five special wildlife sites

Date: 2009

Client: Redditch Borough Council

The sites comprise ancient woodland and semi improved grassland habitats and are designated as special wildlife sites. The previous site descriptions were very basic and were produced in 1990. CSa carried out a thorough initial survey on each of the sites, using the DAFOR system to assess species present and level of abundance. This data was used to identify which National Vegetation Classification category characterised each site. Full citation documents, habitat plans and extensive botanical species lists were produced for each site. The presence of and potential for protected/notable species were identified. CSa revealed the presence of three badger setts  within these wildlife sites and additional areas of species rich grassland adjacent to the designated sites which were previously unknown to Redditch Borough Council.
