Oil Pipeline Repairs, Cheshire
CSa Input: An ecological appraisal of the sites, protected species surveying, licensing requirements and appropriate mitigation measures
Date: 2006
Client: The Oil and Pipelines Agency
An ecological appraisal was carried out taking into consideration defective sections of pipeline and potential protected species issues. Great crested newts were identified within adjacent habitats resulting in appropriate licensing procedures being undertaken. Mitigation measures were agreed between Natural England and CSa on behalf of OPA. A series of simple exclusion methods were employed, which ensured that no protected species were harmed whilst there was minimal disruption to the programme of repairs.
