Lydney Wind Turbines

CSa Inputs: Landscape Planning and Ecological Advice

Date: 2010 – ongoing

Client: Beachley Property Ltd

CSa was commissioned by Beachley Property Ltd to prepare a landscape and visual assessment to support a full planning application for a proposed meteorological mast at Lydney Industrial Estate. The purpose of the mast is to gather meteorological data to determine whether the site is a suitable location for wind turbines.

As part of the assessment process, the potential effects of the mast on the setting of three listed buildings and the schedule monument of Lydney Harbour were considered and a series of photomontages produced to illustrate the impact of the mast. Consent was granted in summer 2011.

CSa’s Ecology Team is now undertaking a comprehensive suite of bat and bird surveys at the site to inform the siting of the wind turbines.
