Landscape Assessments & Planning
We have significant insight into the way planning applications and appeals are interpreted and viewed by stakeholders. Our expertise is rooted in a deep understanding of the UK planning system (and its many nuances) and our in-depth knowledge of the built and natural environment. So during the crucial early stages of your project you can rely on our accurate advice on the opportunities and constraints presented on a site and have the confidence to make timely, informed decisions.
We provide landscape planning advice to many of the UK’s leading house builders, Strategic Land Companies and Institutions.
A Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment will identify the general site characteristics, extent of visibility and include an assessment of the ability of a site to accommodate development. Our appraisals also involve a review of published landscape assessments and relevant landscape and design policies in the Development Plan.
The ‘landscape and visual effects’ chapter of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) provides a systematic assessment of the predicated landscape and visual effects arising from a development. The chapter will identify the site characteristics, extent of visibility and key views, along with a detailed assessment of the ability of the site to accommodate the proposed development in terms of the likely significant landscape and visual effects arising from the proposals.
Whether you need a landscape strategy, or a detailed drawing to discharge a planning condition, our highly experienced senior team offers a ‘no fuss’ approach. Drawing on the skills of our multi-disciplinary team, we have the collective know-how and insight to be able to get to grips with the most complex of design projects, quickly and efficiently.
That means regardless of project scale, you can rely on us to get the job done, cost effectively.
We are currently working on schemes ranging from town centre redevelopments to implementing landscape and recreational infrastructure for urban extensions of several thousand dwellings.
Landscape Expert Witness
Landscape and urban design evidence will normally be prepared by our Managing Director, Clive Self, who has over 30 years’ experience appearing as an Expert Witness on landscape and urban design matters. Clive has appeared at several hundred Public Inquiries and Hearings, successfully giving evidence on major projects such as new settlements and airport expansions, as well as smaller developments. Whatever the scale of the appeal, we always approach them with the same rigor and desire to succeed.
